TOKYO – Advertising Week, the world’s largest annual gathering of ad tech, advertising, creative, entertainment, marketing and media industry leaders, has announced the initial roster of confirmed thought leadership speakers, corporate sponsors & participating trade associations for the inaugural edition of Advertising Week Asia to take place May 30-June 2.

“Advertising Week Asia reflects that same spirit of collaboration we have in New York City and London and we are proud to stage the third major global edition in Tokyo”

Advertising Week Asia begins on May 30 with the first-ever TUGBOAT Creative Academy, an invitation-only program which will feature a global roster of creative icons. Following the tradition of New York City and London, AWA formally kicks off that evening with the Advertising Week Asia Opening Gala which will be held at the iconic Zōjō-ji temple, the Great Main Temple of the Chinzei branch of Jōdo-shū Buddhism which stands in the shadow of majestic Tokyo Tower.

Beginning on May 31, the thought leadership agenda takes place at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi. The morning program will feature keynotes and the afternoon will feature multiple Seminars and Workshops, also very similar to how Advertising Week is organized in New York City and London. Billboard Live, also located at Tokyo Midtown will host additional AWA thought leadership program, including the TUGBOAT Creative Academy, and evening special events.
The Week concludes with the Wrap Party at the EX Theater on June 2, which will be held in partnership with WakuWaku Japan.

AWA also includes support and participation from a number of leading industry trade associations across APAC including: Advertising Agencies Association of India, Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong, Association of Accredited, Advertising Agencies of Taipei, Confederation of Asian Advertising Associations, IAB Singapore, Japan Advertising Agencies Association, Japan Advertising Federation, Japan Advertising Federation, Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association, Japan Interactive Advertising Association, Japan Marketing Association, The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association.

Globally, such organizations as D&AD, the Advertising Club of New York and The Marketing Society of Great Britain will also be participating in AWA.

“Advertising Week Asia reflects that same spirit of collaboration we have in New York City and London and we are proud to stage the third major global edition in Tokyo,” said Advertising Week CEO, Matt Scheckner.

Advertising Week Asia is led day to day by Yoshihiko Kasamatsu who added, “We have never seen anything like Advertising Week Asia in APAC and we look forward to hosting this grand event in Japan and to having Tokyo join New York City and London as a great host city.”
