Appoints Media and Cable Industry Executive James Rooke to Lead Business Unit
SAN MATEO, California – FreeWheel, the video technology company serving enterprise-class entertainment companies, today announced the expansion of its Advisory Services business unit that will work with existing customers and other large entertainment companies to optimize their professional content business for maximum profitability.
FreeWheel’s Advisory Services practice will provide practical and actionable recommendations from a team with years of real-world operating experience and backed by FreeWheel’s proprietary, data-driven insights.
To help lead and develop the unit’s business engagements, the company appointed media executive James Rooke as vice president of Advisory Services. Rooke comes to FreeWheel from Time Warner Cable Media, where he was responsible for corporate strategy and execution in the media and advertising business. Prior to TWC, Rooke led the Strategy & Transformation practice in New York for Capgemini’s Media & Entertainment sector.
“We are in the midst of a fundamental change in how television and video content is being consumed; our customers have identified this shift and are determining the right approaches that deliver on consumer expectations while maximizing profitability from their professional content,” said Rooke. “FreeWheel’s work with the top content companies and distributors has given them a unique understanding on the issues shaping the industry, and in effectively developing the revenue streams required to support a digital video business. I look forward to working with our customers to support their continued growth.”
The Advisory Services business capabilities include, but are not limited to, providing strategies for optimizing content monetization, such as best practices for distribution of content across partners and customized insights from FreeWheel’s quarterly Video Monetization Report, improving efficiencies across advertising and revenue operations, and yield management strategy, including inventory and ad product design.
Over 70% of FreeWheel’s technology clients have tapped this team for their unique industry insights and implementation strategies, and the further expansion the Advisory Services practice will offer them a trusted partner to help best architect their revenue operations in the ever-changing world of online video.
