NEW YORK, NY – Genesis Media (http://www.genesismedia.com/), a video ad solutions company focused on the monetization challenges of tier-1 publishers, has announced today the appointment of Mark Yackanich as its new CEO. Concurrently, the board of directors has appointed interim CEO and Co-Founder Andrew Reis as Chairman of the Board.
Yackanich is a seasoned operator and video product development expert, with credentials ranging from early stage venture management to big media and cable. Prior to Genesis, Mark was CEO of MegaPhone Labs, a pioneering participatory television company. Previously, Mark worked at NBC as Vice President of strategy and planning for their TV Stations Division, and led business operations for the launch of Hulu.
“Mark brings a wealth of relevant experience, as well as a fresh perspective to Genesis Media,” said Andrew Reis, now Chairman of the Board. “Mark has a unique appreciation for the challenges of traditional media companies and how emerging technology can be used to address them. This perspective is critical, as our business focuses on redefining premium digital content monetization.”
As Genesis Media’s new Chairman Andrew Reis, a Co-Founder of Genesis Media (and Co-Founder of TVGenesis, which merged with AdGenesis to become Genesis Media in November 2011), comes with vast experience in the online video ad technology sector. Previously, Reis co-founded and was COO of Tremor Media, a leader in digital video advertising. Reis also co-founded BlackOcean USA, a digital media incubator based in New York that invests in and assists young digital companies with a focus on video, mobile and social business models. Separately, Reis has seen five separate exits from digital companies he founded or co-founded.
