Media Technology Veteran Charlie Walter Joins CoreMedia Systems; Will Lead Development of Next Generation of CoreDirect
FAIRFIELD, NJ — Veteran media technologist Charlie Walter has joined the CoreMedia Systems executive team as Chief Operating Officer.
Walter assumes the COO title from Jim Paull, who remains president of CoreMedia Systems.
Most recently, Walter was Chief Information Officer for North America at WPP Group’s GroupM, where he led a team of more than 70 information technology employees. Among his responsibilities was the successful implementation of the company’s digital data management initiative, which centralized the acquisition, stewardship, aggregation and analysis of digital data across 500 digital buyers/planners and analysts. He also led the migration of GroupM’s financials to Microsoft Dynamics AX General Ledger.
Walter will lead the development of CoreMedia’s next generation of performance-based media management solutions.
Walter brings extensive agency holding company experience and has led development and implementation teams to manage data systems for both offline and online media analysis, planning, buying and stewardship.
“Charlie’s expertise will be a key component in our ongoing development of CoreDirect,” said Glenn DeKraker, CoreMedia’s CEO, “and as a member of the executive team he will help guide the strategic direction of CoreMedia.”
“We see the industry eventually moving to a model that integrates the extraordinary reach and impact of broadcast media with the immediacy, targetability and accountability of digital, and CoreDirect will be ready for this transition,” said Walter. “With regard to television, the model will likely consist of three segments: network, spot, and performance-based media, which will reflect consumer stimulus and response from both digital media and traditional direct-response TV.”
Prior to GroupM, Walter was Media/Talent Program Director at Donovan Data Systems (now MediaOcean), where he headed the automation of paper-bound talent management process. Before joining DDS, he was Chief Information Officer for Starcom MediaVest Group. His responsibilities included supervising the startup of the GM Planworks operation, including facilities, systems, integration and coordination across several software companies and 20 creative, media, traffic and bill/pay agencies. He also held senior technology positions at Sara Lee Corporation, Chicago Title & Trust Inc. and Accenture Consulting.
