Khan brings a unique blend of experience in digital media, publishing and e-commerce, and will use it to drive sales and product development in a region seeing tremendous growth in the realm of cross-screen and programmatic video. According to a recent comScore report, Southeast Asia’s Web audience grew 10% from 2012, and saw traffic from smartphone and tablet screens grow 33% in the same timeframe*.

“Video advertising is a fast-moving industry demanding technological innovation and people who can activate that technology to capitalize on market opportunities,” says Phil Duffield, SVP International at Adap.tv. “To that end, we view Southeast Asia as a key region in online video, which is seeing the same or greater growth patterns as in emerging markets like Australia and Japan. Alex’s strong sales experience, coupled with his experience in product development, gives our customers an on-the-ground partner who is invested in helping them accomplish their business goals.”

In previous roles, Khan has headed agency sales at Yahoo! UK and Ireland, was Commercial Director for Deal Group Media, based in London, and established Aktiv Digital, a digital sales representation company with offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Philippines.

“Adap.tv is at the forefront of intelligent video ad trading, and the potential in such a high-growth market is enormous,” said Khan. “I am looking forward to continuing our impressive global expansion this year into next, and working to help advertisers and publishers understand and effectively execute a programmatic approach to video.”

Its expansion into Southeast Asia caps a tremendous year of growth for Adap.tv, which grew its existing teams in Australia and in the EMEA region, as well as opening a new research and development center in Hyderabad, India and a regional office in Tokyo, Japan. Adap.tv grew its staff by more than 100% year-over-year across its US and international offices, and is planning to expand into more global markets in 2014.
