Fremont, CA – Vdopia, the global leader in mobile video advertising, today announced that Jason Shulman has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Sales a newly created position in the company’s San Francisco office. Mr. Shulman will be responsible for growing North America media and programmatic revenue for the company.
“Jason has in-depth experience in both start-up and Fortune 500 marketing services companies with an agency and brand marketer focus,” says Srikanth Kakani, CEO, Vdopia. “His knowledge of the video marketplace, agency trading desks, agencies and brands combined with in-depth experience managing sales and business development teams and selling directly to clients, will help Vdopia.”
“I joined Vdopia because, we are entering a ‘mobile first’ world, where everything we do, from banking, to shopping, to communicating and consuming our media content, all will be done predominantly on a handheld device. This creates exciting opportunities to help content developers and marketers use mobile video in particular to help move their business’ forward,” says Mr. Shulman. “There are very few companies with global scale in the mobile video advertising space and Vdopia is on that short list. Vdopia is just launching their programmatic offering and to be able to combine the power of location and audience targeting with mobile video is an opportunity I could not pass up.”
Mr. Shulman comes to Vdopia from Spotzot, the world’s first location-targeted shopper marketing platform, where he had been Head of Sales for the past year. Before that, Mr. Shulman was Vice President, Digital Brand Development for Billboard where he led all digital efforts for Billboard including branded events like the Billboard Music Awards and the American Music Awards. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Shulman helped start the world’s largest video ad exchange for Adap.tv, which marked the second start-up for him in the “programmatic” world of advertising. The first was New York based [x+1], the industry’s first demand side platform (DSP) and early advocate of data driven, multichannel marketing where Mr. Shulman was Chief Revenue Officer. Earlier in his career Mr. Shulman was an ad agency executive for several years, having started one of the first interactive agencies, Freestyle Interactive, later sold to Aegis PLC.
“Jason’s experience with programmatic buying and selling will come into play as Vdopia builds out its own offering in the mobile space,” says Saurabh Bhatia Cofounder, Chief Business Officer at Vdopia. “We are very pleased to have him join our team.”
