Spot.IM Launches The First “Everywhere” Social Network

Free to use platform allows any website owner to unlock communities and remove external social platform dependency

  • Over 2,000 sites now actively using Spot.IM to generate social networks off owned websites
  • Brand owners now have full access and control of social engagement through their own sites – keeping conversations in the place where content is created.

London – Spot.IM, creator of the first distributed social network, today launches a unique, community-creation technology that allows any website to become their own social network.

The free to use platform allows any publisher or website owner to turn their web traffic into a vibrant community, empowering publishers to improve user-engagement, retention and monetization capabilities. By providing website owners with a social space on their own existing websites, Spot.IM frees publishers from relying solely on external social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter for management and monetization of communities.

Adding a Spot to a site is a very simple process. A user can simply go to the Spot.IM website, create a user ID via social login, choose the name for the Spot, brand it and choose its main category and location in the user’s website. Finally, by simply embedding just two lines of code into the site’s HTML, the social community availability will be ready in less than five minutes.

“We’re creating a new social infrastructure that will overlay the web, giving site owners a way to join the social age and succeed,” said Nadav Shoval, CEO and Co-Founder of Spot.IM. “While existing social networks provide an effective way for publishers to reach new users and drive traffic to their site, Spot.IM gives site owners the ability to keep those users, and the conversation they have, in the place where the content was created.”

Since the release of their Beta, over two thousand website owners and publishers including Time Out, Kerrang, and Red Bull, have adopted Spot.IM to ‘socialize’ their websites. Spot.IM’s technology is completely free, and provides all the necessary community creation, management and engagement tools in just two lines of code.

Tom White, Product Director of Time Out, was one of the first to implement Spot.IM’s technology, saying, “We are excited to partner with Spot.IM. We see them as a key feature in our digital strategy, presenting a unique opportunity to engage more effectively with visitors to our site.”

Shoval concludes: “Today, content publishers work extremely hard to create great content that visitors to their websites would enjoy, but end up exporting or re-routing those visitors to third party social networks for conversation and engagement around their own content. Through Spot.IM, we’re empowering publishers to develop conversation and engagement where the content is created – on their own sites”.

By enabling a truly dynamic, real-time conversation on site, the company’s ‘Spots’ connect users to other people who share their interests, creating a platform perfectly suited to building new relationships online.
