Video Represents the Company’s First in a Series of Branded Content to Debut Online
Sports fans always ask Matthew Hoffman, CEO of Bleacher Creatures, how he makes his plush figures look so much like their favorite pro athletes. What’s the secret, they want to know, to the company’s incredibly true-to-life dolls of such sports icons as LeBron James, Derek Jeter, and Peyton Manning?
Today, Hoffman provided them with an unforgettable answer in the brand-new video entitled “The Process,” debuting on www.bleachercreatures.com.
“It’s the number-one question from all our fans,” says Hoffman. “So we decided to give them a sneak peek into our top-secret process.”
There’s just one caveat: The whole thing is a spoof.
The video opens realistically enough, with the affable Hoffman introducing the piece. But then things take a turn for the wacky, as goofy lab technicians conduct curious production procedures during a humorous trip through a mock Bleacher Creatures manufacturing facility. In one particularly inspired moment, a supposed scientist mixes together onions and a Philly cheese steak to produce a Bleacher Creature of Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux.
“We wanted to do something that reflects our playful nature,” explains Micah Levy, Director of Sales and Marketing for the company. “And while we really can’t give away our trade secrets, we thought this tongue-in-cheek video would give fans something to laugh about instead.”
The 1:50-minute video was produced by Philadelphia agency, Bear Bear Pro. It is the first in a series of videos to be released over the next few months by Bleacher Creatures.
