App Marketing Platform AppLift Acquires Self-Serve Mobile DSP Bidstalk

Adds Global RTB Self-Serve Capabilities for Mobile Gaming and App Advertisers

BERLIN, GERMANY and SINGAPORE – AppLift, a leading mobile app marketing platform, announced the acquisition of Bidstalk, a self-service, white label mobile DSP based in Singapore with an additional R&D center in Bangalore, India. Bidstalk’s proprietary programmatic offering enables marketers to buy RTB-traded mobile inventory on a self-serve basis. With this acquisition, AppLift makes a further move to become the global leader for performance-based app marketing. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Through the acquisition, AppLift’s clients immediately benefit from Bidstalk’s technology infrastructure, which is now integrated into its mobile user acquisition platform DataLift. DataLift is the first performance-focused app marketing platform maximizing Lifetime Value (LTV) across all app verticals. Bidstalk will provide AppLift’s clients extended programmatic in-house and self-service benefits by combining Bidstalk’s real-time bidding capabilities with the DataLift data-management and optimization layer. This will enhance AppLift’s overall offering for a wide array of app advertisers seeking large-scale performance for user acquisition and re-engagement on a global level.

According to eMarketer, mobile will make up 56.2% of all programmatic ad spending in 2015 in the US, reaching $8.36 billion. With the acquisition of Bidstalk, AppLift grants advertisers access to more than 50 programmatic mobile display, video, and native SSPs, exchanges, and further supply sources, all integrated with the platform on a global level.

“We looked for a company whose RTB capacities could best complement and empower our performance-focused demand stack. Bidstalk’s technology is in a league of their own, with an efficiency and a scalability far above all other companies we have looked at in that space,” said Tim Koschella, CEO and Co-founder of AppLift. “We are now able to unleash the full potential of DataLift, the world’s first programmatic platform fully optimized for mobile performance.”

Bidstalk was founded in 2014 by CEO Vaibhav Gupta, formerly CTO of Airpush, and CTO Guna Kakulapati, who was part of the core team behind the Google Display Network. Bidstalk brings a highly experienced group of ad tech professionals, including 40 RTB engineers and data scientists, taking AppLift’s team up to a total of 200 specialists. This acquisition follows the announcement of AppLift’s recent expansion into the Asia Pacific region with three new offices in Beijing, Tokyo, and Delhi respectively. The company also increased its revenue two-fold year-over-year globally.

“We are very excited to join AppLift’s team of experienced adtech professionals,” said Vaibhav Gupta, CEO of Bidstalk. “Bidstalk’s RTB infrastructure combined with DataLift’s technology for performance-based user acquisition and LTV optimization is the key to building the next generation’s mobile marketing platform.”

Together with Bidstalk’s headquarters in Singapore, AppLift now counts eight global offices, of which six are in Asia. Bidstalk’s presence in Bangalore also adds a second engineering hub to AppLift, thereby strengthening its technological capacities. Bidstalk’s enterprise-level white label DSP, offering marketers and agencies access to RTB-traded inventory, will remain under the Bidstalk brand and will continue to be managed by the Bidstalk team.
