clypd Taps Industry Guru Pete Doe As New Chief of Research

Doe brings more than 25 years of TV research knowledge to accelerate growth of advertising sales platform

BOSTON, MA – clypd, the leading sellside advertising platform built exclusively for the television industry, today announced that it has hired Pete Doe, formerly Senior Vice President of Data Science for Nielsen Company, as Chief Research Officer. Doe brings extensive expertise within the television and research industry to this unique role at clypd. He will take responsibility for TV research initiatives related to the enterprise wide solutions the company provides to media owners responsible for the success and maturation of programmatic television initiatives. Additionally, Doe’s extensive background in TV research and audience modeling will drive continuous improvement in the clypd product line as well as ensure alignment with requirements from the TV sales organizations.

Over the past year, clypd has introduced several advanced data and targeting features to the platform.

These features allow traditional television buyers and sales teams to engage using currencies that they know intimately while leveraging advanced audience segments as secondary targets. These secondary targets are used throughout the lifecycle of a programmatic television transaction, including planning, scheduling, and reporting.

“Research is critical to the success of our customers and intrinsic to the programmatic TV solution our customers depend on to drive their top and bottomline results,” said clypd cofounder and CEO Joshua Summers. “Pete’s appointment highlights our commitment to powering data, and he brings more than 25 years of experience to the table having pioneered many of the research advancements during that time.

We expect he will continue that trend at clypd, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our leadership team.”

“Pete brings enormous experience and credibility to his new role at clypd,” said Marshall Cohen, President of Marshall Cohen Associates and former research chief at MTV Networks, AOL, and Univision. “As one of our industry’s leading data scientists, his decision to join clypd, one of the leaders in the programmatic evolution of advertising sales, is both a statement about the future of the programmatic business and a huge endorsement of clypd’s management team and approach.”

“clypd’s programmatic TV platform is addressing the global needs of media companies in a unique and powerful way,” said Doe. “Data integration has become the biggest hurdle to programmatic success. For a researcher, this offers unique opportunities to meet marketer demands through integrating multiple sources of research data to optimize the use of commercial airtime for both buyers and sellers. I couldn’t be more thrilled join the team.”

Doe joins clypd from his previous role as Senior Vice President of Data Science for Nielsen Company, an American global information and measurement company, where he served as a leading authority on audience measurement, statistical modeling, and data integration techniques. His prior career engagements include numerous positions at Nielsen Company as SVP Data Integration, Managing Director at NielsenConnections, and VP Analytics and Modeling at Nielsen Media Research.
