Former Global Head of Apple Measurement & Insights for iAd to Spearhead Kargo’s Ambitious Mobile Advertising Research Initiatives
NEW YORK – Kargo, the leader in mobile brand advertising, announced the appointment of AJ Mathew to the newly created role of Vice President of Research. Mathew joins Kargo from Apple, where he was the Global Head of Measurement & Insights for iAd.
“We’re very happy to have AJ on board to build out and lead a robust research team here at Kargo”
As VP of Research, Mathew is charged with driving the company’s vision to provide the industry with high quality, credible, scientific research that reflects the same degree of quality for which Kargo is known. As part of this effort, Mathew will create a cross-functional team that will help to design and implement custom research around product research, user experience testing, audience insights, market intelligence, advertising effectiveness, and media measurement, among others. Bringing all of these research areas together will allow Kargo to develop cohesive insights and inform the development of new advertising effectiveness products.
“We’re very happy to have AJ on board to build out and lead a robust research team here at Kargo,” said President & COO Ryan McConville. “Hiring AJ is the first step in establishing Kargo’s reputation for thought leadership built around high-quality research and unique insights in mobile.”
Mathew said: “I’m very excited to join a company like Kargo that truly values credible, scientific research that doesn’t sacrifice quality. Too often in our industry we see research efforts fragmented based on areas of specialization, resulting in insights that are in silos. Our goal is to tie all of these areas together to create holistic, high-quality research that reflects Kargo’s vision for elevating mobile.”
Kargo is the only mobile advertising technology company that helps top advertiser brands and media companies create high-end advertising experiences on mobile as media consumption continues to rise on these devices. By marrying breakthrough creative and data with the highest quality editorial environments, Kargo ensures that brands and publishers have a top tier partner to engage consumers on the mobile screen. Kargo’s award-winning ad campaigns reach 180 million mobile users in the United States, rivaling both Google and Facebook in terms of scale.
Mathew’s hire follows a record-breaking 2015, during which Kargo exceeded $100 million in revenue and was named one of the fastest growing companies in the US by Inc. magazine. Kargo also began its international expansion in March of this year with the appointment of its first General Manger for International, Owen Hanks, in London.
Prior to joining Kargo, Mathew helped build Apple’s first Research & Insights department for media and services, focused on performance measurement, ad research, media measurement, audience insights, market intelligence and product research. He also held key research positions at Yahoo!, Bloomberg Businessweek and WebMD.
Mathew works out of Kargo’s New York headquarters and reports directly to President & COO Ryan McConville.
