TVB Announces New Annual Award to Recognize the Best of the Best in Political Advertising

New Award Will Recognize Political Consultants and Agencies for Outstanding Multiplatform Marketing Campaigns with Broadcast TV Stations

NEW YORK – TVB, the not-for-profit trade association of America’s local broadcast television industry, in partnership with the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), announced the debut of a new annual award, the Political Excellence in Local Media Marketing Solutions Award (“EMMA”). The Political EMMA will recognize media strategy and execution of a collaborative, multiplatform political media campaign that generated results for a candidate or an issue on the ballot. To qualify for the Political EMMA, a campaign’s ads must air on a local broadcast TV station’s on-air, online and mobile advertising platforms.

“We look forward to honoring the best of the best in political advertising at this year’s TVB Forward Conference in New York.”

“As the most trusted medium among voters, local broadcast television continues to be the leading marketing platform for campaigns to reach target audiences. Local broadcast television has the greatest influence on the voting process from awareness to casting the ballot,” said Steve Lanzano, President and CEO of TVB. “We look forward to honoring the best of the best in political advertising at this year’s TVB Forward Conference in New York.”

“We are delighted to partner with TVB on this new award honoring excellence in an area that many AAPC members navigate on a daily basis,” said AAPC President Mark Mellman. “It’s important to recognize the work that makes a difference on Election Day and we look forward to congratulating the award recipient later this year.”

The nominated marketing campaigns will be judged by TVB’s Political Task Force, which is comprised of executive leadership from television broadcast groups and members of AAPC’s Board of Directors. Entrants are judged based on the creativity of their multiplatform advertising, as well as the overall effectiveness of the campaign and its ability to deliver results for a candidate or ballot issue.

Submission rules and entry information can be found at www.tvb.org/politicalEMMA. The winner will be announced at Forward 2017 – Local Broadcast Television’s Annual Conference in New York City, September 28, 2017.
