Yahoo Joins the Ads Integrity Alliance

Yahoo teams up with Facebook, Google, and Microsoft in promoting online advertising safety

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Yahoo is the latest industry leader to join the Ads Integrity Alliance, a growing coalition focused on protecting Internet users from deceptive and harmful ads. Launched in 2012, the Ads Integrity Alliance provides a forum where industry players can share their expertise in protecting consumers from malware, scams, and counterfeit goods and in building trust in online advertising. Alliance members, such as Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, and the Better Business Bureaus, work together to develop best practices and share threat information. They also create a common language and understanding of online advertising safety for the industry and Internet users.

“At Yahoo, we’re committed to protecting our users from misleading and potentially harmful advertisements, and we look forward to collaborating with other Alliance members to find innovative ways to promote safe online experiences.”

“Yahoo is thrilled to join the Ads Integrity Alliance,” said Megan Cristina, Yahoo’s Senior Director of Ad Policy, Trust and Safety. “At Yahoo, we’re committed to protecting our users from misleading and potentially harmful advertisements, and we look forward to collaborating with other Alliance members to find innovative ways to promote safe online experiences.”

With Yahoo’s participation, the Alliance adds another strong voice to the dialogue. “Yahoo, with its rich Internet history and display advertising leadership, has a welcome place at the Ads Integrity Alliance table,” said Bryan Gulachenski, the Alliance Executive Committee Chair and StopBadware Executive Director. “Yahoo’s expertise will add further depth to Alliance efforts to counter bad actors and their attempts to undermine the integrity of online advertising.”
