Interactive Broadcast Specialists never.no Appoint UK-Based Scott Davies as Global CEO

MediaCityUK’s The Landing set to become new hub of viewer-led interactive technologies

Interactive social media developers never.no, which has offices in Norway, the USA, Australia and the UK, has announced that Scott Davies is to become its new global CEO.

Mr Davies, who is based at never.no’s studio at The Landing in MediaCityUK, will take over from never.no’s Norwegian founder Lars Lauritzen and will assume responsibility for its portfolio of international broadcast partners, programme makers and advertisers.

Recent client projects delivered by never.no, who specialise in integrating real-time social media interactions from viewers with live broadcast content, include interactive advertising campaigns for Coca-Cola with broadcasters MTG in Scandinavia, live in-programme projects for shopping channel QVC (US and Japan), and an audience participation social campaign for the series finale of the cult detective comedy drama Psych in the US which saw a 48% increase in viewer retention during the ad breaks.

In the UK never.no also work closely with Sky Sports across a number of channels and programming including its dedicated Formula One channel. Other domestic clients have included the BBC, ITV and Sky News.

Now appointed as CEO, Scott intends to increase the volume of projects managed by its studio at The Landing and explore new interactive technologies via The Landing’s leading-edge User Experience Labs. He also wants to use never.no’s MediaCityUK location as a shop window for its game-changing suite of interactive and automated broadcast applications called Story.

Scott said of his appointment: “Taking over from Lars Lauritzen means I have some big shoes to fill but I’m confident that with the support of the fantastic team we have across three continents we can take never.no and viewer interactivity to a whole new level.

“I’m also really excited about the potential that being based at The Landing offers us. Not only are we right on the doorstep of the BBC, ITV and a number of leading independents, but we rub shoulders on a daily basis with creative, digital and media companies all doing ground-breaking work in the broadcast space.

“That, combined with having user-testing labs on site, which can calibrated for any platform or device, means we are well placed to take advantage of the rapidly growing appetite for more and better live interaction with viewers via social media amongst both brands and broadcasters.

“This can only help us build upon the success of our proprietary Story product and further drive new ideas and concepts forward.”

Jon Corner, CEO of The Landing said:

“I’m delighted that Scott has been promoted to the role of global CEO and that he is looking to utilise The Landing’s location, facilities and network of digital businesses to drive more growth and innovation for never.no. It’s also a great example of how we can provide a creative and commercial environment which helps companies to grow and talent to blossom.”
