COLUMBIA, Md. – Merkle (merkleinc.com), a leading technology-enabled, data-driven performance marketing agency, announced the appointment of Charlie Weiss to its leadership team as general manager, media and publisher solutions. In his new role, Weiss will focus on managing and growing Merkle’s partnerships and solutions within its media and publisher business; specifically, Publisher Addressable Marketplaces (PAM). Launched earlier this year, PAM is a consortium of leading premium publishers, such as Pandora and LiveIntent, which enables addressable CRM and custom third-party audience targeting across all media platforms. The move comes on the heels of Merkle joining the Dentsu Aegis Network, rounding out its CRM capabilities, particularly in the areas of global data solutions, analytics, and digital services.
“I look forward to playing a role in the future direction of the company, which is already a respected leader in CRM and people-based marketing and only getting better as the opportunity of addressability continues to advance.”
Prior to joining Merkle, Weiss served as vice president of ad marketplaces at News Corp where he was instrumental in launching global programmatic advertising initiatives and forming technology partnerships across the company. He has also held roles at Dow Jones and Yahoo! in sales strategy and yield management.
“We’re helping advertisers by creating better insights, premium addressable media inventory sources, and more precise measurement through the use of people-based data and identity,” said Gerry Bavaro, SVP Enterprise Solutions at Merkle. “Charlie’s extensive experience leveraging data, inventory, and programmatic in innovative ways will ensure our continued success partnering with media sellers and buyers.”
Merkle has grown to be a leading programmatic media agency, using its deep heritage in data and technology to fuel people-based marketing strategies in an increasingly digital world. Additional media-related products and solutions include data onboarding, matching, and syndication. Evolving and expanding these services comes at a critical time where audience data and addressable targeting take center stage across the digital and television landscape.
“As a long-time admirer of Merkle’s work, I am thrilled to be joining the team at this exciting time,” said Weiss. “I look forward to playing a role in the future direction of the company, which is already a respected leader in CRM and people-based marketing and only getting better as the opportunity of addressability continues to advance.”
Weiss will be based in Merkle’s NY office, central to the company’s growing media and publisher solutions team in the US and its expansion into international markets.
