REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:BBND), a leader in digital video networking, announced the availability of its Broadcast Video Services Software 3.0, which supports the increasing demand for advertising on high definition (HD) content and growing HD program line-ups enabled by Switched Digital Video (SDV). The upgrade to the large installed base of Broadband Multimedia Routers (BMR®) enables customers to deploy up to 150% more HD advertising and process up to 140% more individual HD program streams on deployed and highly reliable network infrastructure.

The BMR is a field-proven and high-performance solution supporting in excess of 60 million subscribers worldwide and delivering over 700 million advertising transactions a year.

“The BMR has the proven performance to accommodate the explosion in HD content libraries, the surge in projected ad spends, the migration to addressable advertising, interactive services, and the anticipated rollout of 3D TV,” said Paul Crann, vice president, product management, BigBand Networks. “This platform enables our customers to quickly ramp additional advertising revenues seamlessly and cost effectively. It supports a variety of applications, including digital simulcast, digital TV management, digital ad insertion, addressable advertising, Enhanced TV, HDTV and SDV.
