Hewlett-Packard’s Manoj Goyal Appointed Senior Vice President, Engineering & SAP’s Nicholas Cumins Appointed Senior Vice President, Products, To Expand OpenX Digital Monetization Platform
LOS ANGELES – OpenX Technologies, Inc. (OpenX), one of the world’s leading providers of digital and mobile advertising technology, announced the appointments of two senior industry executives to its Executive Management Team. SAP executive Nicholas Cumins was appointed to the newly created role of senior vice president of products; Hewlett-Packard (HP) executive Manoj Goyal was appointed to the newly created role of senior vice president of engineering. The new executives will report to chief executive officer Tim Cadogan. Together, Cumins and Goyal will drive the next stage of product innovation and technology scaling for OpenX.
“At OpenX we are building the next generation of digital revenue technology to unleash publishers’ full economic potential”
“At OpenX we are building the next generation of digital revenue technology to unleash publishers’ full economic potential,” said Tim Cadogan, chief executive officer, OpenX. “Essentially, we’re fusing enterprise grade software with advertising technology. To succeed in this endeavor we require enterprise software that runs at immense scale in real-time and combines rapid product innovation with highly robust underlying platform technologies. To execute this effectively we need experienced, world-class leadership in product and technology. That’s where Nicholas and Manoj come in. Both bring deep experience of execution at massive scale in extremely demanding production environments for some of the world’s largest technology companies. We’re delighted to have them join and I can’t wait to see the huge impact they will have on OpenX and our customers.”
With nearly 25 years of experience in Big Data, analytics, content management, and cloud computing, Goyal joins OpenX from HP where he served as executive director/general manager, Information Optimization, Enterprise Group / HP Cloud Services. In his role at HP, Goyal introduced the massive scale Hadoop and HANA database solutions capable of handling multi-petabyte data and generated more than $100 million in revenue in fiscal year 2012. He also managed a globally distributed team of hundreds of engineers. Prior to HP, Goyal was vice president, engineering, at Documentum, Inc. (subsequently acquired by EMC Corporation) where he was an early innovator in Big Data. He was also an early Internet technology pioneer at Sun Microsystems, Inc. during the period in which Java was created.
At OpenX, Goyal will oversee OpenX’s engineering efforts worldwide. Specifically, Goyal will be responsible for three key areas of development: deploying data and analytics to drive monetization for OpenX’s large, global customer base; developing a state-of-the-art mobile solution to further scale OpenX’s product offerings to its customers and driving innovation around OpenX’s unique, patented content valuation product. Goyal will also supervise the scaling of OpenX operational infrastructure. Today, OpenX operates five data centers on three continents to manage the more than 1,000,000 bids per second at peak that it handles in its Real-Time Bidding (RTB) exchange. Unusually for a relatively young company, OpenX designs, installs and operates all of its own servers, currently totaling in the thousands.
“I’m thrilled to join the team at OpenX,” said Manoj Goyal, senior vice president, engineering, OpenX. “Already OpenX operates an integrated ad display platform that handles trillions of ad transactions annually and we expect to increase that rate by an order of magnitude by bringing the same scale to mobile. Moreover, OpenX brings uniquely differentiated value to customers by leveraging our proprietary content valuation solution. I’m looking forward to continuing to bring disruptive technology to the marketplace.”
Nicholas Cumins comes to OpenX from SAP, where he served in a variety of senior roles, including product management, corporate strategy and business development in the United States, Germany and France. In particular, he was senior vice president, product management, in charge of all SAP cloud solutions for large enterprises.
In his new role, Cumins will set the direction for all OpenX products. OpenX provides digital media companies with a comprehensive set of products that enables them to maximize their ad revenue from all revenue channels across all screens. It has three primary products: a global RTB ad exchange that includes yield monetization, ad serving technology and content valuation – all built on a world class platform. Cumins will also be significantly expanding the OpenX Product team.
“Becoming part of OpenX and having the chance to quickly bring innovative products to market is a very exciting prospect,” said Nicholas Cumins, senior vice president, products, OpenX. “As we ramp up, the OpenX Product team will work even more closely with our customers to determine how to maximize their revenue while making their lives easier. There is immense opportunity to help our customers master the array of new revenue channels like programmatic and the explosive growth of the multi-screen audience across mobile, IPTV and classic web. OpenX is poised to be at the forefront of these enormous changes.”
