London: Leading experiential agency WRG has appointed renowned ad agency boss Russ Lidstone as its new CEO, with plans to steer the business into a new era of communications.
Lidstone’s pedigree in strategy and leadership will strengthen WRG’s capability to create unforgettable experiences for some of the world’s most recognisable brands. Clients include Shell, adidas and Google, as well as a number of leading healthcare companies.
He brings a wealth of experience from the agency world – credited with instigating market-leading integration of digital, PR & advertising during his six-year tenure as CEO of ad agency Havas Worldwide, also evolving its social, SEO and channel capabilities.
WRG said Lidstone’s background will be instrumental in making sure it remains at the cutting edge of experiential communications.

Lidstone will divide his time between WRG’s headquarters in Manchester, its London office and its operations in Hong Kong, Philadelphia and Basel.
He takes over from David Sharrock, who continues in his post as the COO and CFO.
Lidstone added: “My priority in the first few weeks will be to listen, meet as many of WRG’s existing clients and to visit our key offices in Asia, the US and Europe, as well as exploring new client opportunities.”
Lidstone is a member of the Marketing Group of Great Britain (MGGB), a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), a non-executive director of Basketball England and a Tech London Advocate. He also won the accolade of Media Employer of the Year while at Havas – his biggest point of personal pride.

About Russ Lidstone
Russ has over 20 years’ experience in marketing communications as an agency strategist and CEO. He started his career at Coca-Cola and went on to hold planning and leadership roles in blue chip integrated advertising agencies including McCann, Butterfield Day, HHCL, Lowe, JWT and most recently Havas Worldwide, where he was CEO for over six years.
Under his leadership, Havas Worldwide London successfully developed best in class integrated digital, social and PR capabilities. He oversaw significant revenue growth with a strong new business performance and wins across range of international and local clients, including Credit Suisse, Pernod Ricard, Dulux and Birds Eye Iglo.
Havas London also became the second most creatively awarded agency in the global Havas network, not having featured in the top 10 previously. In 2013 Havas London won awards (including Cannes Gold Lions) in over 25 categories for brands including Credit Suisse, Unilever’s VO5, Reckitt Benckiser’s Durex and Pernod Ricard’s Chivas Regal.
During his tenure, Havas London also won the accolade ‘Media Employer of the Year’.
Russ is a member of the Marketing Group of Great Britain (MGGB), a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and a Tech London Advocate. He is a Visiting lecturer at the University of West London and an entrepreneurial projects evaluator at Oxford University’s Said Business School.
An award-winning mentor for The Marketing Academy, he has won a number of awards for his leadership skills, including being voted one of the UK’s ‘Top 100 Inspirational Creative Leaders’ by The Independent.
A regular contributor and speaker, Russ has spoken at conferences including The Economist, ISBA, Social Media World Forum, Adtech and Cannes. He has also judged a wide range of industry awards including Mind media awards, Cannes effectiveness, Drum Mobile Marketing and IPA Healthcare effectiveness.
Russ is also a Non-Executive Director of Basketball England, the governing body of the sport in the country.
