DUBLIN, Ireland – Research and Markets has announced the addition of the “Profile of Business Media China” company profile to their offering.
This is an updated edition of the original report which was published in August 2007.
Based in Stuttgart, Germany, Business Media China (BMC) is focused on organising exhibitions and managing an outdoor advertising network in China. With a staff of 300 who are mostly based in China, BMC operates offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The company was founded by the key shareholder, Mesago Holding GmbH in July 2004. Mesago is owned by Business Media China founder, Klaus M. Hilligart.
Since 2004, the company has expanded largely through acquisitions, but BMC has also grown the business by developing its own exhibitions and conferences and by securing advertising license agreements. In 2007, revenues were EUR 23.1 million. Nearly 65% of revenues were generated through BMC’s advertising business and the roughly 35% from its portfolio of exhibitions and conferences. Overall revenues continue to grow rapidly. In 2006 revenues were just EUR 7.5 million, up from EUR 2.1 million in 2005.
The company has been publicly traded since it took over a shell company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange at the time of its founding in 2004. Since then BMC has quickly acquired or established a network of subsidiaries and associated companies.
BMC manages its network of outdoor advertising sites primarily through three companies – BMC Advertising (100% owned by BMC), BMC Flying Dragon Advertising (a joint venture of which BMC owns 51%) and BMC Skyflying Media (a joint venture 51% owned by BMC). The company has secured the rights to operate a network of outdoor advertising sites at airports and railway stations in major cities across China.
BMC’s exhibitions and conferences are managed through five companies – Baiwen Exhibitions (55% owned by BMC), Zhenwei Exhibitions (66% owned by BMC), Herong Exhibitions (70% owned by BMC), BMC TBG (51% owned by BMC) and BMC China (100% owned by BMC). These companies organise key events such as China Mining and China Beauty Expo.
