Scripted has more than 1,000 customers, and sells content to businesses looking to increase their inbound marketing efforts. Scripted has a user-base of more than 80,000 pre-vetted, US-based writers with expertise on subjects ranging from cloud computing to fashion. Scripted vets every writer, pitches topics to businesses, generates content, and automatically copy edits work through its technology solution.

Chris Moore from Redpoint Ventures and Eric Chin from Crosslink Capital will be joining Scripted.com’s board as part of the financing. Also participating in this round are James Currier and Stan Chudnovsky from Ooga Labs, Branchout CEO Rick Marini, Bebo co-founder Michael Birch, Military.com co-founder Chris Michel and LA angel investor Paige Craig.

“Scripted has experienced tremendous organic growth over the past year with virtually no marketing spend,” said Sunil Rajaraman, CEO of Scripted.com. “Content marketing is a massive opportunity, and our growth is evidence that the single biggest pain point for marketers is content creation. Scripted wanted to put together the strongest investment contingent possible heading into the next phase of the company’s growth, and we feel fortunate to have Eric, Chris, and our angel contingent on our board.”

“Publishing quality content regularly is hard for most online marketing departments,” said Chris Moore, General Partner at Redpoint Ventures. “Unlike most other freelancer marketplaces, Scripted takes responsibility for quality of the work product delivered and, therefore, for the satisfaction of the marketers demanding the content.”
