SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Metamarkets, the leader in analytics for programmatic marketing, today announced that Jim Payne has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors. Payne is the Founder and former CEO of MoPub, a mobile ad exchange that was acquired by Twitter in 2013. Having Payne on board reinforces Metamarkets’ reputation as a leader in the space.
“Jim Payne is one of the most respected and forward-thinking executives in the realm of advertising, media, and technology,” said Mike Driscoll, Founder and CEO of Metamarkets. “His experience with building successful businesses and his deep understanding of where the space is headed, particularly as it applies to mobile, make him a strong addition to our Board.”
A former Metamarkets client, Payne experienced the benefits of Metamarkets’ platform firsthand while at MoPub. His career includes more than a decade of influential roles with industry leaders such as Twitter, MoPub, AdMob, and Google.
“I am thrilled to join the Board of Metamarkets, a company whose technology is at the forefront of the programmatic media space,” said Payne. “In an industry driven by massive streams of transactional data, Metamarkets provides something every programmatic business needs: the ability to understand what’s happening in real-time and easily identify new opportunities and efficiencies. I look forward to contributing my expertise and perspective as Metamarkets continues its rapid growth.”
Payne founded MoPub in 2010 to provide better ad monetization and control tools for mobile publishers. Under his leadership, the company grew to a $100M revenue run rate and introduced the first and largest RTB exchange for mobile advertising. In 2013, less than three years after its founding, MoPub was sold to Twitter. Post-acquisition, Payne served as Twitter’s Vice President, Exchange, where he successfully integrated the MoPub unit into Twitter’s broader revenue team.
Before MoPub, Payne served on the product team at AdMob, a mobile ad network acquired by Google in 2010. Previously, he was on the product team at Google, where he managed Google Maps’ advertising products. He is a software engineer by trade with a BS in Computer Science from MIT.
