Spanish Journalist and Digital Pioneer Delia Rodriguez Joins Univision Digital as Deputy Managing Editor for Audience Engagement

MIAMI – Univision Digital, the digital division of Univision Communications, Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, announced that renowned Spanish journalist and digital pioneer Delia Rodríguez has been named deputy managing editor for Audience Engagement. She will report to Borja Echevarría, vice president of Digital.

The foremost global expert on the subject of virality in Spanish-language journalism, Rodríguez will bring her wide-ranging, hands-on experience as a highly successful online communicator, reporter, editor, blogger and author to UCI as part of the company’s ongoing focus on augmenting its digital offerings and attracting the best and most diverse digital talent in the world. She will enhance Univision’s digital news front by helping establish editorial strategy to drive audience engagement and virality through the development of relevant, innovative multi-platform content tailored to the Spanish-speaking online community in the U.S.

Before joining Univision Digital, Rodríguez was the editor-in-chief of Verne, the social media content website of Spain’s largest daily newspaper, El País. Previously, she served as editor of El Huffington Post, launched El País and Condé Nast’s joint online fashion magazine S Moda and wrote the Trending Topics blog for El País. She is also an accomplished author whose book, Memecracia (Memecracy), an analysis of how the “meme” contagion and other viral phenomena are affecting contemporary society, has received critical acclaim.
