The Annual Awards Program Celebrates Inspiring Voices and Innovative Content Creators From Across the Internet

NEW YORK – SheKnows Media, the number-one women’s lifestyle digital media company1 with 81.5 million unique visitors per month2 and 162 million social media fans and followers, announced the top online content creators and social media influencers who will be honored during its annual Voices of the Year gala at #BlogHer15: Experts Among Us, taking place in New York on Friday, July 17, 2015.

Now in its eighth year, Voices of the Year celebrates the most inspiring voices and innovative content creators from across the Internet, showcasing the most memorable, heart-stopping, brilliant, hilarious and impactful works of the past year. For the first time, entry categories were broadened beyond written work and photography to span all forms of online content and social media activation, including videos, visual eye candy and projects that demonstrated significant social impact. Winning entries, which represent less than 5% of entries received, went through three rounds of judging to attain the status of Honoree. The Voices of the Year Committee drew from former award Honorees, such as humorist Jenni Chiu; #BlogHer15: Experts Among Us advisory board members, including Majora Carter, an urban revitalization strategist and Peabody Award-winning broadcaster, and Coca-Cola Vice President of Global Health and Wellbeing Initiatives Celeste Bottorff; as well as SheKnows Media management and editorial staff.

The 2015 Voices of the Year Honorees represent a dynamic group of content creators that publish across every medium and format – from new voices to veteran bloggers. Honorees either submitted themselves or were nominated by fans, resulting in a group of eclectic creators such as:

  • Tony-award winning actress Daisy Eagan
  • Best-selling author and My Brown Baby blogger Denene Brown
  • Kickstarter phenomenon Samantha Futerman
  • YouTube parodist Deva Dalporto
  • Kate Stayman-London, the comic mind behind Ladies Against Humanity
  • Feminista Jones, the organizer of last year’s National Moment of Silence (#NMoS14)

BlogHer will feature the work of select Honorees onstage during the Community Keynote event. The works of all Honorees will be on display during the July 17th Voices of the Year reception immediately following the Community Keynote.
