ad:tech Brings Startup World Cup to New York for U.S. Inaugural Show

NEW YORK – Startup World Cup is partnering with ad:tech, the original industry authority for advertising, marketing and media technology, to host its first ever Startup World Cup U.S. regional competition in New York. This regional competition will be held as part of the annual ad:tech New York event, taking place November 2-3, 2016 at the Javits Center.

“We are thrilled to host Startup World Cup at our flagship U.S. show”

Startup World Cup is a series of global conferences and competitions with the goal of bridging startup ecosystems worldwide, while also encouraging the most talented entrepreneurs to battle for the glory of winning the Startup World Cup. There will be 16 regional events across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, leading up to the Grand Finale in U.S. Silicon Valley. This is the first ever event of its type, organized by Fenox Venture Capital, a Silicon Valley-based multinational VC firm. And the November event represents the U.S. debut of the competition.

“We are thrilled to host Startup World Cup at our flagship U.S. show,” said John Durham, General Manager for ad:tech New York. “The soul of our event is innovation and the spirit of competition that often goes hand in hand with it. We could not be more excited to introduce this event to our community, regionally as well as globally.”

In November, ad:tech will bring together more than 5000 ad:tech believers, practitioners and innovators from around the globe. Tapping into ad:tech’s roots as the industry’s first and only show to exhibit what’s new and what’s next, the event’s theme, “Shift, Experience, Reimagine” calls to action marketing and media leaders across Video, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Wearables, IoT, Connected Auto, Media, Retail and Analytics. The content and tech experiences that will drive the show shine a light on the most active, engaged consumer that marketers have ever seen and provide powerful business solutions with those consumers’ lifestyles and need states at center stage.

The winner of the pitching competition will represent New York region at the Grand Finale and will compete alongside 15 other startups from all over the world for a chance to win a U.S. $1,000,000 prize in investment.

The Grand Finale will take place in San Francisco on March 24th, 2017. Eric Feng of Kleiner Perkins (KPCB), David Cohen of Techstars, Kevin Hale of Y Combinator, Tim Draper of DFJ, and Adeo Ressi of the Founder Institute will be on the distinguished judging panel that will decide which startup wins the U.S. $1,000,000 prize. Additional judges will be disclosed at a later time.

Durham continued, “I’m proud that we will select a startup to represent New York in the Startup World Cup Finale. I hope the New York startup becomes the world champion!”

“We are very excited to partner with ad:tech New York,” said Anis Uzzaman, CEO and General Partner of Fenox Venture Capital and Chairman of Startup World Cup. “Our joint forces will be able to deliver one of the best startup events in the region and cater to the entrepreneurs.”

Through this global event, ad:tech will be giving the East Coast startups access to some of the top VCs and tech entrepreneurs in the world, creating funding and partnership opportunities.
